What is a part time health coach?

A Part Time Health Coach is a professional who works with clients to help them achieve their health and wellness goals, such as losing weight, improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, or managing stress, all while working reduced or flexible hours. They provide motivation, guidance, and personalized plans, often meeting clients in person, by phone, or online. Part Time Health Coaches may be employed by wellness companies, healthcare organizations, gyms, or may work independently, allowing for a flexible work schedule that fits around other commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time health coach?

To thrive as a Part Time Health Coach, you typically need a background in health education, nutrition, or exercise science, often supported by a relevant certification such as ACE or NBHWC. Familiarity with coaching platforms, fitness tracking apps, and electronic documentation systems is frequently required. Excellent interpersonal skills, motivational abilities, and active listening help coaches build trust and foster client progress. These skills and qualifications are crucial for effectively guiding clients toward healthier lifestyles and achieving measurable wellness outcomes.

How does a part time health coach typically collaborate with clients and other wellness professionals?

Part-time health coaches usually work closely with clients to set realistic health goals, provide ongoing motivation, and track progress through regular check-ins, often using virtual platforms. Collaboration with other professionals, such as dietitians, personal trainers, or healthcare providers, is common—especially when clients have specialized needs. Coaches may also participate in team meetings or case discussions to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach. Fitness Coach — Orangetheory Fitness Southlands (Aurora, CO)
Lead the room. Change the day. Coach people into the best version of themselves one hour at a time.
At Orangetheory Southlands, our coaches don't just run workouts. They own the energy of the room, hold the standard, and pull people toward goals they didn't think they could hit. If you're the kind of person who lights up when someone finishes stronger than they started and you've got the certification and the presence to back it up, we want to talk.
Who We Are
We're the Southlands studio of a locally owned, performance-driven organization. We believe great coaching is equal parts science, showmanship, and service. Our members trust us with their health, their hour, and their hardest days — and we take that seriously. We run on a simple set of core values, and we hire, coach, and lead by them:
- Serve First, Lead Always — the member's experience comes before your ego, every rep.
- Own the Energy — the room feeds off you. Set the tone the moment you walk in.
- Raise the Standard — good enough isn't. Coach form, effort, and results with intention.
- Win as One — coaches, sales team, and front desk move as one crew.
If those land with you, keep reading.
What You'll Do
- Lead group strength and VO2 Conditioning classes across the treadmill, rower, and weight floor using Orangetheory's heart-rate-based, science-backed program.
- Deliver an unforgettable member experience — motivating, coaching form, modifying for all fitness levels, and knowing your members by name.
- Interpret and coach to the five heart-rate zones, helping members chase Splat Points and hit their goals safely.
- Choreograph and rehearse each day's template so you walk in prepared, not winging it.
- Coach real-time modifications for beginners, athletes, injuries, and everyone in between.
- Partner with the sales and front-desk team to drive retention, referrals, and a studio culture people don't want to leave.
- Represent the studio and brand with professionalism, positivity, and hustle.
What You Bring
- A current, nationally accredited personal training or group fitness certification (**NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, or equivalent).
- Current CPR / AED certification** (or willingness to obtain before your first class).
- Real presence — you can command a room, read the energy, and adjust on the fly.
- A coaching style that's motivating without being a drill sergeant, and knowledgeable without being a lecture.
- Reliability and professionalism: on time, prepared, and consistent.
- Bonus points for prior group fitness or HIIT coaching experience — but the right personality and certification matter most.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: $35–$65 per session / hour , plus performance incentives.
- Paid Orangetheory coach certification and ongoing development.
- A complimentary membership and access to the best training environment in Southlands.
- A team that actually invests in your growth — many of our leaders started on the floor.
- Flexible scheduling: part-time  (possible full-time).
- A culture where coaches are respected, developed, and set up to win.
