Description
Supervise residents of the group home in all daily aspects of the residential program. Provide personal care and assistance to residents, to include, but not limited to, bathing, dressing, and grooming. Coordinate daily schedules and duties/activities of the residents. Maintain complete, accurate and current program records. Prepare meals for the individuals, grocery shop if necessary, and clean up after meal preparation. Transport and accompany individuals to and from medical appointments, recreational activities, shopping trips and other scheduled activities as assigned by supervisor. Complete reports as requested by supervisor. Provide coverage for all shifts and hours as needed. Ensure the home and any program-owned equipment remains clean, sanitary, and in good working condition. Participate in all staff meetings as required by supervisor. Perform duties essential to the welfare of the program (i.e., grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, other household duties). Assist in administration of medications, replenishment of medications, repackaging of medications and documentation of same. Assist with training and orientation of new employees, as requested by immediate supervisor. Act as liaison with case managers and other care providers to insure program planning and quality of life that is in the best interest of the resident. Become familiar with each resident's written services plan and insure that programming is helping to meet outcomes. Serve as a role model for residents.Assist in dealing with verbally and physically aggressive individuals in order to effectively meet treatment needs, while complying with human rights regulations.Travel to another agency location as directed by immediate supervisor. Perform relevant job duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Will work up to 29 hours per week.
Hiring range: $14.71 - $18.39 hourly. (Offers for candidates with more than 10 years of relevant experience may exceed the listed hiring range. Cumberland will only engage in compensation discussions and negotiations after an initial offer of employment is extended.)
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Education equivalent to a high school diploma may be considered with proof of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to understand the special training needs of intellectually disabled individuals. Ability to successfully complete training in, and demonstrate a practical use of, Medication Administration, Medication Repackaging, Medicaid Waiver training, CPR, First Aid, behavioral intervention training, etc. Ability to lift forty (40) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work with and assist individuals with physical aggression and behavior issues. Current valid drivers license and good driving record. Willingness and ability to travel and use personal transportation in a work capacity. Good written and oral communication skills. Effective problem solving and decision making skills. Good computer skills in order to access emails, training, and record keeping/data collection software. Ability to organize own work and be self-directed. Basic knowledge of community resources. Ability to perform general household upkeep and maintenance.

About the Organization
CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
