Job Summary
The Swim Coach is responsible for supporting the development and training of the club's swimming activities while also providing individual swimming lessons to members and guests. This role works closely with the aquatics team to ensure a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience for members and guests. The Swim Coach is responsible for helping swimmers improve their skills in a supportive environment that consistently exceeds member expectations. Maintaining safety, fostering a positive atmosphere, and delivering high-quality instruction are key components of this role.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Director Aquatics or Fitness Director
May report to the Manger Aquatics in the absence of the Director Aquatics
Day to Day
Connect with members regularly and promote aquatic club activities.
Create a personalized experience for members by providing towels and water service during their use of the aquatic facilities.
Promote the facility amenities, programs, and the club while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service, including wearing a club-approved uniform and nametag.
Assist in designing swim practices as outlined by the manager and always maintain supervision of the group, including monitoring development for swimmers.
Attend swimming meets and warm-up sessions as scheduled.
Assist in the setup of the pool for training sessions while ensuring the area remains accessible for non-swimming team members.
Help in overseeing the completion of daily assignments in designated areas to uphold club standards and align with the Star Service FOCUS expectations. This includes maintaining orderly and organized workspaces, tidying the entry area, and ensuring the aquatics facilities are well-stocked and arranged.
Additional Duties
Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role.
Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team's success.
About You
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 3 years of experience coaching swimmers of various ages and skill levels.
Must be ASCA or USA swimming certified.
Certification in CPR, first aid, and AED within the last 6 months.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, members, and guests.
Physical Requirements
Frequent swimming, sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
Talking, hearing, and seeing.
Primary Tools/Equipment
Swim cap, goggles, fins, noodles, whistles, etc.
First aid kits and safety signage.
Lifeguard equipment.
Smartphones or tablets.
Office supplies.
Work Schedule
Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
