The Jupiter Island Club is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated, and team-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join a highly collaborative agronomy team dedicated to excellence, innovation, and "making the MAJIC", the thoughtful details that elevate the member experience. This role supports daily golf course and tennis grounds maintenance, leads staff, contributes ideas, and helps uphold the elite conditioning standards expected at one of Florida's premier private clubs. This position will strengthen leadership depth, support a world‑class agronomy operation, and prepare for a significant upcoming renovation. The Club is committed to developing assistants for future senior leadership roles, either internally or through advancement opportunities elsewhere.

  • Total staff: 25 full-time
  • Typical work schedule:
    • In-season: Mon-Thu 6:00-3:00, Fri 6:00-12:00, Sat or Sun 6:00-10:00
    • Off-season: Mon-Thu 6:00-3:00, Fri 6:00-12:00, Sat 6:00-10:00, Sunday rotation with superintendent

Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude:
Overall Responsibilities
  • Direct and participate in daily golf course maintenance and tennis grounds support
  • Oversee Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant operation, water sampling, and recordkeeping
  • Collaborate with the GCS, Director of Grounds/Facilities, Assistant Superintendents, AITs, and Tennis Court Attendant on daily operations and planning
  • Support execution of agronomic programs including mowing, irrigation, chemical applications, and pest/disease management
  • Lead portions of cultural practices and summer project schedules
  • Ensure all maintenance standards set by the Greens Committee are met and upheld
  • Oversee outside contractors during summer projects
Leadership & Personnel
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff with a focus on safety and communication
  • Evaluate team performance and assist in recruitment and onboarding
  • Monitor daily task progress and ensure proper time management
  • Lead crew communication before and after shifts
  • Participate in weekly management planning meetings
Operational Skills
  • Assist with irrigation programming, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with Equipment Technicians to manage equipment needs and care
  • Contribute to course preparation including mowing, spraying, and daily setup
  • Support tennis court maintenance planning and execution
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation
Professionalism
  • Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and pride in course conditioning
  • Participate in educational events, seminars, and professional development opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate or Associate Degree in Turfgrass Management (required; higher experience can offset)
  • 4-7 years of golf course maintenance experience
  • Minimum 1 year of crew leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation, cultural practices, and equipment operation
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Florida Pesticide Applicator License (or obtained within 6 months)
  • Florida BMP Certification (preferred; expected to obtain within 2 years)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs; perform physical work in varying weather conditions
