Job description

Garde Manger for Award-Winning Restaurant

Location: Southern Vermont (Ski Region)

Position: Garde Manger (Cold Station / Pantry Chef) - Cross-training available

Compensation: $20.00 / hour (Plus end-of-season bonus potential)

Schedule: Part-Time (25–30 hours/week) | Wednesday – Saturday, Dinner Service Only

About Our Client

Gecko Hospitality is partnering with a premier, family-owned après-ski dining destination in Southern Vermont to find their next great culinary talent. Boasting a near-perfect rating for their exceptional alpine cuisine, this establishment prides itself on a tight-knit, highly supportive team. If you are looking for a drama-free kitchen where quality and teamwork come first, this is an incredible opportunity to join a top-tier operation.

The Lifestyle & Schedule

This is the ultimate opportunity for an avid skier, a semi-retired culinary professional, or someone seeking supplemental income with an unbeatable work-life balance!

  • Ski by Day, Cook by Night: Evening shifts mean your days are free to hit the slopes at nearby world-class resorts.
  • Three-Day Weekends: The restaurant operates Wednesday through Saturday, giving you Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday completely off.
  • Scheduled Time to Recharge: Our client observes scheduled closures for three weeks in the spring and two weeks in the winter, allowing the team guaranteed time off to rest and enjoy the holidays.

The Role

Working directly alongside a stable, experienced Executive Chef, you will be the backbone of the cold station. As the team grows, there is also an opportunity to toggle between Garde Manger and Lead Line Cook responsibilities.

  • Prepare and execute all cold appetizers, salads, and alpine-inspired platters to a high-end standard.
  • Maintain a pristine, organized, and health-code-compliant station.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily prep and dinner service execution.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with a highly efficient front-of-house team to ensure smooth, timely service.

What We Are Looking For

Because this operation runs with a small, dedicated staff, reliability and trust are the top priorities. Our client is looking for a team member who wants to establish roots and stay long-term.

  • Experience: Prior experience as a Garde Manger, Line Cook, or in high-volume catering is preferred. Highly skilled, reliable home cooks with a deep passion for the culinary arts will also be considered.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are absolute musts. We need a team player who shows up ready to work every single shift.
  • Professionalism: To maintain a healthy, focused environment, this establishment strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol in the workplace. We require clear-headed professionals.
  • Local Ties: Candidates already living in the area, or those with secure local housing, will be highly prioritized. (Note: We are happy to discuss creative local housing connections or resources during the interview process if needed).

How to Apply

If you are ready to join a supportive, family-run restaurant and enjoy the Vermont mountain lifestyle, we want to hear from you.

Please submit your resume directly to Gecko Hospitality to be considered for this confidential opening.
