Job description

UX Designer (Part Time On Call)
The Work
ICF is seeking an experienced UX Designer to support client-aligned digital service design work across our Experience practice. This role is ideal for a junior-to-mid level designer who has hands-on experience designing and building user experiences and enjoys working closely with delivery teams to create usable, scalable solutions in a consulting environment.
This is a part-time, on-call role supporting specific projects as needs arise.
Job Location
This position requires that the job be performed in the United States. If you accept this position, you should note that ICF monitors employee work locations and blocks access from foreign locations/foreign IP addresses and prohibits personal VPN connections.
  • This is a part-time, on-call role with variable hours based on project needs (from 0-30 hours per week).
  • You may be asked to travel occasionally (e.g., quarterly) to an ICF office or client meeting.
  • Core collaboration hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Eastern Time, with flexibility outside those hours depending on time zone and project needs.

What You Will Do
  • Design and support user-centered experiences within the ServiceNow platform, including workflows, forms, portals, and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, UX researchers, and delivery teams to translate requirements into effective designs.
  • Create and iterate on design artifacts such as wireframes, flows, and interaction designs.
  • Partner with technical team members to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
  • Participate in client and internal design reviews, incorporating feedback iteratively.
  • Support multiple short-term efforts in a fast-paced, consulting environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3+ years of UX design experience.
  • Candidate must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in consulting, government, healthcare, or other regulated environments.
  • Proficiency with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Ability to balance design quality with platform constraints and delivery timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Professional Skills
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working within enterprise platforms or design systems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate design rationale and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers and platform specialists.
  • Clear, concise communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Organized, adaptable, and effective in an on-call, project-based work model.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$98,614.00 - $167,644.00
