For over 40 years, HCI has been at the forefront of emergency relief, delivering aid and hope to families in over 40 countries.

As a Fundraising Officer, you will be HCI's focal point of contact in the community with the goal of increasing brand awareness, building partnerships, and raising funds for causes that matter. You are someone who has a friendly and outgoing personality who loves to connect with people and motivate them towards doing good.


Position Title: Fundraising Officer (Edmonton)

Reporting To: Fundraising Manager

Location: Edmonton - Alberta

Number of positions: 2

Terms: Part Time - 15 - 20 hours per week

Salary: 23 - 25 CAD/HR

Key Duties and Responsibilities


Outreach & Relationship Management

  • Represent HCI as a community ambassador in Edmonton, Alberta, increasing organizational visibility and engaging new donors with our mission.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with major donors, community leaders, and partners to support HCI's initiatives.
  • Utilize social media platforms strategically to amplify HCI's messaging, campaigns, and events within the Edmonton community.
  • Maintain a coordinated calendar of outreach initiatives, including community events, workshops, and speaking engagements.
  • Identify and engage High-Net-Worth individuals in the region, working closely with national leadership to align donor interests with key projects.
  • Build partnerships with local schools, colleges, and universities to foster youth engagement in HCI programs.
  • Collaborate with other NGOs and community organizations to explore and implement joint local projects


Fundraising

  • Develop and execute targeted fundraising strategies to engage prospective donors and drive financial contributions.
  • Design innovative campaigns across channels such as direct mail, online giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, and major gifts.
  • Establish and track fundraising goals, providing consistent updates and impact reports to leadership.
  • Analyze donor data to identify giving trends and optimize fundraising efforts accordingly.

Event Management

  • Plan and execute impactful community events in Edmonton to promote HCI's mission and donor engagement.
  • Coordinate with volunteers and stakeholders to ensure seamless event logistics and meaningful experiences.
  • Collect feedback and assess event outcomes to inform future planning and improvements.


Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support local outreach and fundraising campaigns.
  • Foster a rewarding volunteer environment aligned with HCI's values and community impact goals.


Youth Engagement

  • Develop and implement youth-focused initiatives that inspire leadership and participation in HCI's mission.
  • Create meaningful opportunities for youth involvement in fundraising and awareness campaigns.


Grants and Funding

  • Identify local grant opportunities and funding sources to support HCI's projects in Edmonton.
  • Prepare compelling grant proposals and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.
  • Establish relationships with local foundations and grant makers to strengthen long-term funding prospects.


Data Management & Compliance

  • Accurately track and manage donor information and financial contributions using HCI systems.
  • Ensure all documentation meets HCI's compliance standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Post Secondary qualification in events planning, fundraising, project management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • Experience in fundraising, sales, or event planning, ideally within a non-profit organization.
  • Proven track record in community activism and volunteering.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Strong prioritization and time management abilities.
  • Team player with the capacity to work independently.
  • Commitment to HCI's values and mission.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or another language is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are essential.
