This involves participating in regular team meetings, sharing design prototypes, and providing clear documentation to developers to ensure your vision is executed accurately. You may also gather feedback from stakeholders and iterate on designs, all while balancing your part-time schedule. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as you'll need to manage your time efficiently and maintain alignment with the broader project goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Designer, you need a strong grasp of both UI/UX design principles and front-end/back-end web development, typically supported by experience with design software and coding languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Node.js. Familiarity with design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite and version control systems such as Git is common, along with knowledge of responsive design and prototyping tools. Creativity, problem-solving, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating with clients or team members and translating ideas into practical solutions. These skills ensure you can efficiently deliver visually appealing and functional products while adapting to evolving project requirements in a flexible, part-time capacity.

What are Part Time Full Stack Designers?

Job Description:
The Applications team within Software Engineering builds the internal tools that power Shield AI's most critical operations across Production, Fleet Sustainment, Customer Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering. Our portfolio includes software supporting supply chain management, fleet sustainment, and aircraft manufacturing.
We are growing rapidly and are seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to help design, develop, and deploy robust applications that directly enable manufacturing, operational planning, and mission execution within a Foundry-integrated ecosystem.
If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems with modern technologies, and want to see your work make an immediate impact, this role is for you.
What you'll do:
  • Develop and release Foundry-backed applications that support MES, ERP, and operational analytics platforms.
  • Build end-to-end features, from backend services and data transformations to intuitive user interfaces, with a focus on performance, maintainability, and security.
  • Partner closely with production managers, engineers, and supply chain teams to understand business workflows and deliver scalable software solutions.
  • Design and build applications with React and TypeScript within the Palantir Foundry ecosystem, integrating and operationalizing data across multiple domains.
  • Deliver continuously by writing well-tested, maintainable code and iterating quickly based on real-world feedback.
  • Influence technical direction by contributing to architecture decisions, establishing best practices, and helping scale Shield AI's Foundry development capabilities.

Required qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in full-stack software development with demonstrated ownership of production applications.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate with stakeholders, spanning senior leadership and collaborative peers to align on requirements and outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building React applications and TypeScript/JavaScript-based backend services and APIs.
  • Strong experience with data modeling, large-scale datasets, and analytical workflows.
  • Solid foundation in software architecture, testing, code quality, and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to independently deliver complex projects while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry, including Ontology, data pipelines, APIs, and application development, or comparable large-scale data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating Python-based data processing pipelines.
  • Aerospace industry familiarity, with experience developing software for manufacturing, supply chain operations, fleet sustainment, or aircraft maintenance.
  • Familiarity with modern software delivery practices, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
