How does a Part Time Full Stack Designer typically collaborate with developers and stakeholders to ensure cohesive project outcomes?

As a Part Time Full Stack Designer, you'll often work closely with both developers and stakeholders to bridge the gap between design and implementation. This involves participating in regular team meetings, sharing design prototypes, and providing clear documentation to developers to ensure your vision is executed accurately. You may also gather feedback from stakeholders and iterate on designs, all while balancing your part-time schedule. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as you'll need to manage your time efficiently and maintain alignment with the broader project goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Designer, you need a strong grasp of both UI/UX design principles and front-end/back-end web development, typically supported by experience with design software and coding languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Node.js. Familiarity with design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite and version control systems such as Git is common, along with knowledge of responsive design and prototyping tools. Creativity, problem-solving, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating with clients or team members and translating ideas into practical solutions. These skills ensure you can efficiently deliver visually appealing and functional products while adapting to evolving project requirements in a flexible, part-time capacity.

What are Part Time Full Stack Designers?

They are valued for their ability to manage multiple aspects of a project efficiently, even with limited working hours.

Job description

About Fora
Fora is the modern travel agency, empowering anyone with a passion for travel to build a thriving advisory business. We're modernizing the $100B+ travel agency industry by combining powerful technology, data, and community to enable thousands of entrepreneurs to build on our platform. Our business-in-a-box platform gives travel entrepreneurs everything they need to launch and scale, from cutting-edge tools and personalized training to a vibrant community and exclusive industry partnerships. At the heart of it all is our mission: to help the next generation of travel entrepreneurs turn their love for travel into a fulfilling career, whether full-time or part-time. We believe that everyone, from seasoned professionals to first-time advisors, can build something both profitable and personal.
Founded in 2021 by seasoned entrepreneurs, Fora has grown steadily since, expanding to a team of 200+ full-time employees based in downtown New York City. In 2025, we announced our $60 million Series B and C investment rounds, led by Thrive Capital and Insight Partners, with participation by previous investors including Forerunner and Heartcore Capital. We've also been recognized as a LinkedIn Top Startup 2024, Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies 2025 and 2023, and Built In 2025 Best Places to Work.
We're building the first truly unified platform for all travel needs-leveraging the best of human expertise and technology to transform how people plan and book travel.
About The Role
We're looking for a seasoned Senior/Staff Full Stack Engineer to join the Finance Pod, which builds and maintains the complex systems that power advisor payments at Fora. This pod owns the end-to-end advisor payment system and experience (covering booking data ingestion, commission collection, and payouts), and is expanding quickly into new fintech and payment products.
In this role, you'll work across the stack to design, build, and iterate on both advisor-facing experiences and internal tools that support reconciliation, data accuracy, and integrations with payment partners. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Operations to bring trust, visibility, and efficiency to every interaction involving advisor earnings. Example projects include building smart visualizations for the Payments page, shaping our traveler invoicing experience, building payout statuses and notifications in the Advisor Portal, and integrating with new financial platforms and services.
Our ideal candidate is a versatile engineer who loves working on both user-facing features and the backend systems that power them-someone with a strong product mindset, attention to detail, and interest in fintech, payments, or financial infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineers to define and prioritize the roadmap for advisor payments, commissions, and revenue tracking tools
  • Build full-stack features that allow advisors to view payment statuses, reconcile bookings, and manage service fees or commissions
  • Work on backend services that support payout routing, reconciliation logic, and financial data modeling
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to create data-rich, intuitive experiences around money movement and financial transparency
  • Own projects from concept through delivery-design, implementation, testing, and iteration
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, scalability, and system reliability across both frontend and backend layers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in frontend web development
  • 3+ years experience using React / Vue.js / Angular.io
  • 3+ years experience in backend web development (e.g. Python, Django / Flask / equivalent)
  • Experience building data-driven, event-based applications that surface complex financial or transactional data to users
  • Experience with relational databases and ORMs, particularly in integration-heavy or FinTech contexts
  • Understanding of transactional accuracy, double-entry accounting, and ledger design
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to thrive in a cross-functional team
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to own outcomes end-to-end
Compensation
Compensation for this role varies based on experience, with an indicative range of $155K-$225K + equity. Final compensation will depend on the level at which the candidate is hired, as we're considering multiple levels for this role.
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Health Insurance (including an option completely covered by Fora HQ)
  • Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Wellhub Memberships
  • 401k plan with company match
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Supplemental Life Insurance
  • Stock Options

This role is based in New York City with a hybrid WFH & office schedule (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are our Tribeca in-office days, with flexibility for Wednesday and Friday at your preference).
