ESiโ€™s Safety team conducts multidisciplinary analyses to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and support litigation, while proactively identifying hazards and assessing risk. The team evaluates human factors and safety across products and environments, ensuring compliance with applicable standards in a collaborative, growth-focused setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides expert forensic pathology consultation in support of ESiโ€™s multidisciplinary forensic investigations, including personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability matters.
  • Reviews medical records, autopsy reports, death certificates, and other medical documentation to evaluate cause and manner of death and injury causation.
  • Consults with legal professionals, insurance clients, and ESi engineers on medical and pathological findings relevant to cases.
  • Prepares written reports and verbal presentations of forensic pathology findings in clear, concise terms.
  • Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial.
  • Collaborates with biomechanical engineers, accident reconstructionists, and other ESi experts on multidisciplinary matters.
  • Stays current on advancements and best practices in forensic pathology and related medical-legal fields.
  • Maintains all professional and ethical standards applicable to the practice of forensic pathology.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licenses Required

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school required.
  • Board certification in Anatomic and/or Forensic Pathology (ABP or ABFP) required.

Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in forensic pathology practice, including death investigation and autopsy experience.
  • Experience providing expert testimony in civil and/or criminal proceedings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with engineering and legal professionals.

Other Technical & Non-Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; strong medical record review and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex medical and pathological findings clearly to legal and non-medical audiences.
  • High level of integrity and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
  • This is a part-time/consulting engagement; must be available for case review, reporting, and occasional testimony.

Total compensation includes a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity, with final pay determined by job-related factors such as experience, qualifications, individual performance, and overall company performance.


After internal discussions and market research, the current billable hourly rate for this opportunity is $700.00 to $850.00 per hour. This is not the hourly compensation rate.


Physical Demands:

This role requires frequently sitting or standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds. The work regularly requires bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and maintaining balance. This position frequently requires handling and operating specialized tools and equipment and working in a variety of physical positions, including occasionally accessing tight or confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
