Position Overview
The Part-Time Instructor provides training for students enrolled in the curriculum of the Fire Science Program (non-credit) as prescribed by Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and Florida Administrative Code (FAC).
What you will be doing
  • Provides instruction and training in classroom lectures
  • Prepares and distributes course outline/syllabi to students
  • Identifies student requiring assistance and recommends improvements as needed
  • Assists in the development and delivery of material and instructional lesson plans
  • Completes all necessary and assigned paperwork in a timely manner
  • Maintains academic progress and attendance rosters as assigned
  • Complies and provides training for other staff members on policy and procedures
  • Participates in workshops and trainings
  • Serves on Campus committees as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regional accredited institution and six (6) years' experience with the Fire Department
  • Current State certification as Fire Science Instructor
  • Successful completion of an approved Fire Service Course Design class
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess well-developed communication skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Physical ability to perform the necessary tasks associated with the training
  • Ability to work in inclement weather under adverse conditions
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and take corrective actions to ensure a safe environment
  • Ability to positively interact with staff, students, and faculty
  • Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • •Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff
