Position Title: Part-Time After-School Program Van Driver

Department: Youth Services
Location: JP McGovern Sports and Recreation Center

Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday โ€“ Friday, 2:30 PM โ€“ 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Reports To: Youth Services Program Coordinator/Designee


Program Overview

Community Family Centers provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching after-school environment for youth in our community. Our programs focus on academic support, social-emotional learning, and engaging activities that encourage positive youth development.


Position Summary

The Part-Time After-School Program Van Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for students participating in the after-school program. The Van Driver ensures students are transported safely from designated school locations to the program facility while maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong safety awareness, reliability, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children and families in our community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Transportation & Safety

  • Safely operate a program van to transport students from assigned schools to the after-school program facility.
  • Follow established transportation routes, schedules, and procedures.
  • Ensure all students are properly secured with seatbelts before the vehicle is in motion.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment inside the vehicle.
  • Monitor student behavior and report concerns to program leadership.

Vehicle Safety & Maintenance

  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including:
    • Fuel levels
    • Tires
    • Lights/signals
    • Cleanliness
    • Safety equipment
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, safety concerns, or vehicle maintenance issues.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness for daily transportation.

Communication & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate transportation logs and required records.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, school personnel, and CFC staff.
  • Report delays, transportation concerns, or schedule changes promptly.
  • Follow all CFC policies, procedures, and safety guidelines

Required Qualifications

ยทย Must be at least 25 years of age to meet CFC vehicle insurance and driver eligibility requirements.

ยท Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

ยท Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.

ยท Strong defensive driving skills and commitment to transportation safety.

ยท Dependable, punctual, and responsible with a strong work ethic.

ยท Ability to interact positively and professionally with children.

ยท Ability to follow schedules, procedures, and safety requirements.

ยท Previous experience operating a passenger van or similar vehicle.
