Job description

Job Title: Bus Driver
Reports to: Facility amp; Operations Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt Part-Time or Temporary FT
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Our Mission: Grace Place puts faith into action – providing pathways out of poverty by educating children and families.
Summary/Objective:
To provide safe and efficient transportation for students in a safe and cost-effective manner that supports the missions of Grace Place.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obey all traffic laws and ensure compliance with all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain an assigned schedule and adhere to pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Ensure the bus is adequately fueled and perform daily vehicle inspections for safety.
  • Keep the assigned bus clean and report any maintenance issues to the Facilities/Operations Manager.
  • Pick up and discharge students and authorized individuals only at designated stops. Exercise responsible leadership on all field trips.
  • Notify the Facilities/Operations Manager in case of mechanical failure, delays, or any safety concerns.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and organizational policies related to student transportation.
  • Perform other bus-driving-related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
  • Driver’s license for five years.
  • Valid Florida C.D.L. with a Passenger (P) Endorsement amp; School Bus (S) Endorsement
  • Ability to work well with others. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The ability to read and follow traffic signs and roadside instructions.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Successful completion of a physical examination.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol screening.

  • Work Environment: Position requires working in numerous locations which include varied temperature, noise level, and other factors that may affect a person’s working conditions while performing the job.
  • Position Type and Expected Working Hours: Full-time temporary or Part-time substitute ongoing.
  • Travel: Ex. Travel up to 20% - mostly locally between Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, and South Fort Myers
  • Physical Demands: Bending, sitting, and standing for long periods of time. Position may requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force as frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Driving required regularly.
  • Essential Physical Functions: Driving a student bus.
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Valid driver’s license, CDL (or willingness to obtain CDL), Level II background check, and drug-testing.
  • Proof of safe driving record.

Background Screening Requirement
All applicants must successfully complete required State and National background screening as a condition of employment prior to beginning work at Grace Place for Children and Families. Screening is conducted in accordance with applicable Florida law, including Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, and, when applicable, Chapter 408, Florida Statutes.

Background screening includes fingerprinting for FDLE and FBI criminal history checks and review through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Employment is contingent upon receipt, review, and approval of screening results.
