Enrollment Management is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Design Student Assistant to help us establish and maintain our brand. The Graphic Design Student Assistant will help bring to life the teams' creative concepts. This position's responsibilities include reviewing final copy, layouts, and content, ensuring brand standards, putting the finishing touches on creative projects, and preparing files for the printers. To be a successful member of the team, strong communication skills, typographic and layout skills, attention to detail; outstanding file-organization and archiving skills are encouraged.
Responsibilities
  • Reviewing graphics, layouts, and typefaces before designs are completed.
  • Using editing software to finalize designs
  • Suggesting and making improvements to images and image quality in print and digital formats
  • Preparing press-ready files based on the supplied specifications
  • Following development timelines to ensure projects are completed on time
  • Troubleshooting any problems with the design team and the printer
  • Cataloging graphics for future projects
  • Following up with leadership to ensure expectations have been met
  • Keeping up to date with graphic design trends, techniques, and software
  • Knowledge of printing processes
  • Multitasking skills and time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Student within the University of Utah system working towards a bachelor's degree in graphic design, Illustration, or a related area
  • 1-2 years of classwork or non-professional experience working with the Adobe Creative Cloud software
  • Able to effectively communicate creative concepts and interact with brainstorming sessions
  • Creative mindset
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to collaborate with a team
  • Meet deadlines and a commitment to provide excellent customer service
Preferences
  • Experience as a graphic designer
  • A portfolio of completed graphics and designs
