Job description

Title: Cafe and Prep - Student Employment

Position Type: Work study

College: Red Rocks Community College

Division: Finance and Administration

Department: RRCC Food Services

Location: Lakewood

Salary Range: $18.81 - $19.31 / hour

Job Summary:

The RRCC Cafe Prep and Cafe staff will provide support for the front and back of the galley. They will support all areas of the food operations department and learn how a kitchen works from the ground up. Students who qualify for either student hourly employment or work study employment are encouraged to apply.  
This is a student employee position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six
Students who qualify for work study employment are encouraged to apply. Shift hours during the semester are Monday to Friday 7:00am – 11:00am & 11:00am – 3:00pm. 
A successful candidate possesses food preparation experience and is at ease with customer service.

Required Qualifications:

For work study employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
2. Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.
For student hourly employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).
Other Required Qualifications
1. Must have a commitment to equity and quality customer service and the ability to interact and communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
3. Good hygiene is a requirement for this position.
4. Must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic.
5. Must be a self-starter with time-management skills and a strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to work from campus (Lakewood campus location) and be eligible for student employment.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
Occasionally moves, positions, and transports boxes, food and office materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
This is not a sedentary role. This position operates in a kitchen environment and constantly uses standard preparation utensils, and routinely uses standard cooking equipment including slicers, toasters, and may double as a cashier, etc.
The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
