We're seeking a Food Service Assistant I to join our Nutrition Services team at Wilmington Hospital. In this essential role, you'll help ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and high-quality meals while supporting a clean and efficient kitchen environment.

Schedule & Hours

Business Hours: 5:30 AM - 7:30 PM
Primary Shifts:

  • 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • 3:45 PM - 7:30 PM

Additional shifts may include:

  • 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM

*Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required

**Must be able to work a combination of all shifts

What You'll Do
  • Assemble patient meals accurately and efficiently according to menu and dietary guidelines
  • Support tray line operations, dish room, sanitation, and kitchen assignments
  • Ensure proper portioning, tray setup, and meal presentation
  • Follow therapeutic diet requirements and distinguish between regular and modified diets
  • Maintain food safety standards, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention
  • Uphold sanitation and safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations
  • Demonstrate a "patients come first" mindset in every interaction

This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
