Description
The Town of Needham's Public Health Division seeks qualified individuals for the part-time position of Per Diem Public Health Nurse. This position may help with blood pressure clinics, flu clinics, and other vaccinations as needed in support of the residents. In the event of an emergency, Per Diem Public Health Nurses may support the operations of emergency shelters and warming or cooling centers.
Scheduled for on-call work, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive:
    • Support and assist with vaccination or other wellness clinics
    • Support operations of emergency shelters and warming/cooling centers, as needed
    • Inform and educate residents about communicable diseases, developing fact sheets, brochures, presentations, and social media messages
    • Collaborate with the Public Health staff to coordinate response efforts, including research and education on current public health topics

Requirements
    • Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Up to date with current medical knowledge/information
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred
    • Experience in both adult vaccinations and childhood vaccinations preferred
    • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, multi-culturally competent with an understanding of social determinants of health preferred
    • American Heart Association BLS/CPR Certified Instructor or willingness to obtain instructor certification
