The 70/30 rule in hiring suggests that 70% of the hiring decision should be based on skills, experience, and qualifications, while 30% should consider cultural fit and personality. For part-time first shift roles, this balance helps ensure candidates are both capable and adaptable to the work environment. Employers often use this guideline to improve hiring effectiveness and team cohesion.

The number of hours per week is usually less than 30, and schedules may be fixed or vary depending on business needs. Team members are expected to complete their assigned tasks efficiently within a shorter timeframe and maintain clear communication with both supervisors and coworkers, as shift handoffs are common.
