Pre-Employment Requirements

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs community education, administrative, and operational support functions for the Fire Department on a part-time basis; assists with public safety initiatives, equipment management, and departmental events; performs related work as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides fire safety education and outreach to the public.
- Installs smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in residential properties.
- Assists with planning and participation in community and public events.
- Provides administrative support to Fire Department staff.
- Assists the Quartermaster with inventory management and equipment tracking.
- Transports equipment and supplies as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Education is equivalent to completion of high school.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and departmental staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, for public events.
- Ability and willingness to represent the City of Flint Fire Department professionally in public settings.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S):
- Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Michigan Driver's license.

Driving Record Requirement

Candidates will not be considered if they have multiple accidents, excessive violations, a current suspension or disqualification, or a major violation (DUI, reckless driving, vehicular homicide, or endangerment) within the past seven (7) years.
