JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Radiology Manager, the Radiologic (XRay) Technologist will perform radiologic testing/treatment in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
1. Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA and safety standards.
2. Comply with established safety precautions at all times.
3. Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of patient care plans, patient assessments etc., as necessary.
4. Interview patients or family members as necessary.
5. Perform administrative requirements, as directed, such as completing necessary forms, reports, and data input.
6. Ensure safety and comfort of patients while going to and from Radiology Department.
7. Coordinate radiology exams with other departments.
8. Perform radiology exams in patient's room, emergency department, or operating room as necessary
9. Brief patient or family of procedures involved in radiology exams and prepare necessary equipment.
10. Maintain a current file of patients treated on an in-patient/out-patient basis.
11. Act as receptionist to patients for the Radiology Department.
12. Maintain treatment records, patient files, and progress notes, as required.
13. Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Radiology Manager.
14. Ensure that the Business Office receives charges for radiology exams rendered to patients.
15. Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience.
16. Reassure patient before and during radiology exams.
17. Prepare the patient for exam by dress/position and administer radiology exam in accordance with established policies and procedures.
18. Safely produce radiographs while adhering to the ALARA principle.
19. Assist in the distribution of transcribed radiology reports.
20. Act as a preceptor for new team members.
21. Participate in patient education, including family members when appropriate.
22. Participate in continuing education.
23. Perform other duties as assigned, needed, or required.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion high school, and completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Formal Training: Completion of Accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain a current BLS CPR and current unencumbered membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and be able to satisfy State of Georgia, TJC, and Federal Requirements, or the equivalent thereof.
Work Experience: Six months to one year experience in healthcare radiology is preferred.
Tools and Equipment Used:
Calculator, personal computer, telephone, facsimile machine, paper shredder, copier, printer, standard radiology equipment to include X-Ray or Mammography and/or Dexa.
