Description of Position
While working in the music department, perform routine entry level duties to include:
Music Office Assistant:
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro, and email
- Perform receptionist duties such as filing, answering phones, office equipment and supplies, and providing information to the public
- Assist with bulk mailings, picking up music mail from the division office, and distributing it
- Assist Division Administrative Assistant with private & applied music room scheduling and appointments and other general requests such as creation of flyer's, obtaining program information on soloists and creation of press releases before concerts and events
Music Librarian:
- Check sheet music in and out to faculty and well as enter new sheet music into the database
- Maintain the music library (concert tapes, DVDs's and programs) and inventory them into FileMaker Pro database as well as assign library numbers
- Put music into instrumentation order and complete instrumentation sheet, distribute sheet music into folders for each ensemble
- Collect Repertory Checkout forms from all ensemble members and then collect music from ensemble folders at end of each performance
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in music related field and music libraries (cataloging)
- Ability to lift music and musical folders weighing as much as ten pounds
- Awareness of and compliance with music copyright law
- Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Advanced background and experience in music library administration
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
