Purpose
The Systems Maintenance Specialist provides part-time technical support to keep NISOD's WordPress site, FileMaker Pro databases, and associated PHP/MySQL components stable and secure during an organizational transition. The role prioritizes continuity and documentation over new development, ensuring current systems remain functional and well-documented for future staff or vendors.
Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibilities fall across three areas: WordPress and Web Systems: Maintain and monitor the WordPress website, including CE21 plugin upkeep, security patching, content updates, and minor theme modifications. Troubleshoot and repair issues with existing custom PHP scripts and MySQL database integrations as needed to sustain site functionality. Database Support: Provide support for staff-facing FileMaker Pro databases that supports, data entry, record management, and report generation.
  • Systems Audit and Documentation: During the initial 30-day period, conduct a comprehensive audit of all maintained systems and produce documentation sufficient for future staff or vendors to understand current configurations, customizations, and dependencies. Ongoing documentation of any changes or issues is expected throughout the engagement.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree related to the work to be performed. Experience administering WordPress sites, including content updates, plugin management, security patching, and basic theme editing. Working knowledge of PHP and MySQL sufficient to read, maintain, and troubleshoot existing custom code. Experience with databases or content management systems. Ability to audit and document legacy systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a nonprofit, higher education, or membership association environment. Experience supporting or maintaining legacy systems in a caretaker or transitional capacity. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data.
Hourly Rate
$35.00 + depending on qualifications

  • The work schedule is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
