Job Summary:

The FileMaker Solutions Developer/Architect leads the design, development, integration, administration, and support of enterprise business applications built on the Claris FileMaker platform. This role focuses on delivering scalable solutions for custom ERP, production management, workflow automation, and reporting, while integrating FileMaker with enterprise platforms such as Monarch, SQL Server, EDI tools, and third-party APIs.

The position requires deep FileMaker expertise, along with infrastructure, database, integration, and systems architecture experience, to improve operational efficiency, strengthen system reliability, and support business transformation. 


This position requires an onsite presence in our Grayslake facility.


Job Description:

Application Architecture & Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain FileMaker-based enterprise applications, including custom ERP, production, manufacturing, and workflow systems. 
  • Create scalable database architectures, schemas, relationships, calculations, scripts, layouts, portals, security models, and user interfaces. 
  • Optimize databases and tune system performance. 
  • Lead SDLC activities including requirements gathering, business analysis, data modeling, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support. 
  • Develop and maintain test environments and ensure application reliability, maintainability, and performance. 


Process Automation & Integration

  • Design integrations between FileMaker and enterprise platforms including ePS Monarch, SQL Server, EDI platforms, REST APIs, ODBC/JDBC, and third-party tools. 
  • Develop automation using FileMaker Data API, REST services, JSON, SQL, scripting, and approved plugins. 
  • Create automated workflows that reduce manual effort, improve data accuracy, and streamline business operations. 


Business Systems & Reporting

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify automation, reporting, and process improvement opportunities. 
  • Create dashboards, analytics, KPI reporting, and operational insights for manufacturing, fulfillment, inventory, finance, and business operations. 
  • Improve data governance, system reliability, and operational visibility across enterprise platforms. 


Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the organization's FileMaker subject matter expert and establish development standards, best practices, and documentation expectations. 
  • Provide architecture reviews, technical guidance, mentoring, system diagrams, and support for complex application issues.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications of Position:

  • High School diploma or GED. 
  • 5+ years developing and supporting FileMaker solutions. 
  • Experience integrating FileMaker with ERP, SQL, EDI, API, and automation platforms. 
  • Experience deploying, administering, and supporting FileMaker Server environments. 

Preferred Qualifications of Position:

  • FileMaker Certified Developer or FileMaker Server certification.  
  • 10+ years developing and supporting FileMaker solutions. 
  • 5+ years designing enterprise business systems. 
  • Experience in manufacturing, fulfillment, distribution, or similar operational environments. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Server, FileMaker Data API, Script Workspace 
  • SQL Server, ODBC/JDBC, REST APIs, JSON, scripting, and third-party integrations 
  • Database design, performance tuning, security models, reporting, dashboards, and workflow automation
