Part Time Federal Court Bailiff Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Job Summary ***Reposted 5/18/2026 This position is responsible for performing criminal warrant service, civil process service, court bailiff duties, court security, school security, patrol functions, and other specialized duties as assigned. Major Duties Serves civil process papers, including citations, summonses, subpoenas, writs, forcible detainers, and restraining and protective orders. Serves misdemeanor and felony warrants; makes arrests of individuals or provides backup assistance to other law enforcement agencies during arrests.

Reviews civil papers and warrants for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation. Serves as bailiff during court sessions; introduces the judge, provides courtroom security, and maintains control and custody of prisoners. Enforces traffic laws; issues citations; directs traffic as needed.

Transports prisoners. Provides assistance to citizens with disabled vehicles. Patrols assigned areas to detect and deter criminal activity.

Assists other law enforcement personnel and agencies as needed. Serves on specialized task forces as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of civil and criminal processes. Knowledge of departmental and county policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws and guidelines. Knowledge of county geography.

Skill in the use of firearms and restraint equipment. Skill in operating emergency vehicles. Skill in analyzing problems and developing and implementing effective solutions.

Skill in preparing clear and precise administrative reports. Skill in effective oral and written communication. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Minimum Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Must have a current and valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) License. Supplemental Information Complexity/Scope of Work The work consists of related criminal and civil service, security, and law enforcement duties.

Potentially dangerous situations contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to serve criminal and civil process documents and enforce applicable laws. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficiency of court processes and the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws Physical Demands/Work Environment Occasionally Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.

Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Operating machinery and/or power tools. Working in low temperatures. Working in poor ventilation.

Working in small and/or enclosed spaces. Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected. Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.

Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Heavy work that includes carrying objects up to 100 pounds or more. Constantly Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business. Working in high temperatures.
