Part Time Event Manager information

What is a part time event manager?

Part time event managers are professionals who coordinate and oversee events on a part-time basis, rather than working full-time hours. They are responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events such as conferences, weddings, corporate functions, or community gatherings. Their tasks often include managing budgets, coordinating with vendors, arranging logistics, and ensuring that the event runs smoothly. Working part-time allows them flexibility, which can be ideal for balancing other commitments or pursuing multiple projects. Despite working fewer hours, part time event managers are expected to deliver the same level of professionalism and attention to detail as their full-time counterparts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time event manager?

To thrive as a Part Time Event Manager, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning, often supported by a relevant degree or prior event management experience. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and basic marketing platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility help you stand out in managing diverse stakeholders and handling last-minute changes. These skills ensure smooth event execution, satisfied clients, and the ability to adapt efficiently in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.

What are some common challenges faced by part time event managers, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Part-time event managers often juggle multiple responsibilities within limited hours, which can make time management and prioritization challenging. They may also need to quickly adapt to changing event requirements while coordinating with full-time staff, vendors, and clients. To address these challenges, strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the use of event management tools are essential. Building strong relationships with team members and being proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues can also contribute to smoother event execution.

Since its founding in 1969, Community Action House has been the focal point of community efforts to provide critical support and pathways out of poverty for our neighbors in need. Our community-powered work takes a client-centric approach that meets people wherever they are at and offers services that enhance ownership and agency. Our work is organized in three interconnected areas: Food Access, Resource Navigation, and Financial Wellness. Welcome, excellence, and collaboration are some of our core values. (www.communityactionhouse.org)

In October 2021, we launched our new 'Food Club & Opportunity Hub' to expand efficient, impactful healthy food assistance with the on-site integration of other pathway programs. More recently, we announced a partnership with Dwelling Place to help address the affordable housing crisis here in Holland. In July 2023, we publicly launched our expansion of Lakeshore Food Rescue. (www.lakeshorefoodrescue.org)

In April 2026, we are launching our second Resale Store in Holland, MI. Our first Resale Store has proven that it can generate consistent, flexible funding that directly supports our work-while also providing practical resources for the people we serve. A second store allows us to scale that success. It's a high-impact use of community assets: turning donated goods and volunteer engagement into reliable income, reducing our dependence on fluctuating grants and charitable contributions.
