What are part time evening jobs?

Part time evening jobs are positions where employees work less than full-time hours, usually in the late afternoon or night. These roles are ideal for people who have daytime commitments, such as students or those with other jobs. Common part time evening positions include roles in retail, hospitality, customer service, healthcare, and warehouses. Evening shifts typically start after 4 or 5 p.m. and can go until midnight or later. These jobs often offer flexibility and can be a great way to earn extra income.

What are the qualifications to get a part time evening job?

The primary qualifications for a part-time evening job depend on the position. Many roles, such as retail sales associate, are available with as little as a high school diploma and some customer service skills. Other positions, such as bartending, require a certificate or several years of experience. You may need to provide proof of your skills, a valid driver's license, or any other licenses or certifications required to work in your industry. This is especially true for the food industry, which often requires a food handler's card to ensure you know how to handle foods of various types safely. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a part-time evening job requires communication skills and attention to detail.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time evening worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Evening Worker, you generally need reliability, time management, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, scheduling software, or basic computer applications may be required, depending on the specific industry. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork are valuable soft skills for handling varied tasks and interacting with colleagues or customers during non-standard hours. These skills ensure consistent performance, smooth operations, and positive workplace interactions during evening shifts.

What are some common challenges faced by part time evening employees, and how can they be managed?

Part-time evening employees often face challenges such as balancing work with daytime commitments, adapting to irregular or late-night schedules, and managing fatigue. To address these, it's important to maintain a consistent routine, communicate availability clearly with supervisors, and prioritize time management. Many organizations offer flexible scheduling and support from team leads to help employees adjust to evening shifts and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Job description

Description
Galbraith’s Landscaping & Lawn Care is proudly celebrating 75 years as a locally owned and growing company serving both residential and commercial customers. We value quality work, reliability, and strong relationships with our team and clients.
To support our continued growth, we are seeking an independent, self-motivated individual who enjoys working independently on a variety of vehicles and small engine equipment. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanic looking for steady part-time evening work. You will be responsible for diagnosing problems, completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and helping ensure our equipment is ready for our crews each morning.
Our equipment is used heavily in a professional landscaping environment, so we are looking for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot problems efficiently, and complete repairs correctly the first time.

Who We Are Looking For:
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair commercial lawn and landscape equipment
  • Setup and perform routine preventative maintenance and scheduled services
  • Repair and maintain commercial zero-turn and stand-on mowers
  • Service small engines, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle equipment
  • Repair string trimmers, blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and similar equipment
  • Perform oil changes, filter changes, spark plug replacement, and lubrication
  • Sharpen and replace mower blades
  • Repair belts, pulleys, bearings, spindles, cables, wheels, and related components
  • Diagnose electrical, starting, fuel, and engine performance problems
  • Inspect equipment for developing problems before they cause breakdowns
  • Keep commonly needed parts, fluids, filters, blades, and maintenance supplies organized
  • Develop and maintain a clean and organized shop and work area
  • Document repairs and notify management when equipment requires additional parts or major repairs
  • Help ensure repaired equipment is ready for use by the following workday

Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
  • Previous experience repairing small engines or commercial lawn equipment preferred
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability
  • Familiarity with 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
  • Experience with commercial mowing equipment is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to safely operate tools, jacks, grinders, and shop equipment
  • Ability to lift and move parts and equipment as necessary
  • Must maintain a safe and organized work environment

Why join Galbraith's Landscaping & Lawn Care?
Schedule

This is a part-time evening position designed primarily around maintaining and repairing equipment after our field crews return for the day.
Evening availability during the lawn and landscape season is important. Additional hours may be available depending on workload and equipment repair needs.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys fixing equipment, takes pride in keeping machines running properly, and understands that equipment downtime directly affects the productivity of our crews.

We are looking for a mechanic who can identify problems before they become major failures and help us keep our trucks, mowers, and small equipment dependable and ready to work every day.
