A Part Time Epic Consulting job involves providing expertise on Epic Systems, a widely used electronic health record (EHR) software, on a flexible or project-based schedule. Consultants typically assist healthcare organizations with system implementation, optimization, training, or support. This role is ideal for experienced Epic professionals who want to work reduced hours while still leveraging their skills to help organizations improve workflows and patient care.
As a Part Time Epic Consulting professional, your workweek typically involves collaborating with client teams to assess current Epic system usage, configuring modules to meet specific workflows, and providing user training or support as needed. Many consultants work remotely, engaging in virtual meetings, troubleshooting technical issues, documenting changes, and occasionally making onsite visits if required. The consulting schedule often offers flexibility, though availability during standard business hours and some evenings may be expected to accommodate client needs. You'll interact frequently with health IT staff, clinicians, and management, making teamwork and communication key aspects of the job.
To thrive as a Part Time Epic Consulting professional, you need a strong understanding of healthcare workflows, Epic electronic health record (EHR) systems, and experience in clinical or IT settings, often supported by relevant Epic certifications. Technical expertise with Epic modules such as Ambulatory, Inpatient, or Revenue Cycle, as well as proficiency in system configuration and troubleshooting, is highly valued. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to varying client needs set top consultants apart. These skills are essential for efficiently delivering tailored Epic solutions that support client objectives and improve healthcare operations.
