Job description

We are seeking experienced CAT I Spanish Simultaneous Interpreters to provide professional simultaneous and consecutive interpretation support for conferences, meetings, and other scheduled engagements throughout the United States, with occasional overseas travel.

These are temporary, part-time 1099 independent contractor opportunities supporting an anticipated four to six conferences or meetings per month. Most assignments will take place within the continental United States (CONUS); however, some assignments may require travel outside the continental United States (OCONUS).

The anticipated start timeframe is Fall 2026. Candidates are being considered immediately to allow sufficient time to complete required proficiency testing and screening requirements.

Assignment Details:

Contract Type: Temporary, part-time 1099 independent contractor

Compensation: $500–$700 per day, based on experience

Assignment Duration: Approximately 2 days to 2 weeks

Typical Assignment: 4–6 days

Frequency: Up to 4–6 conferences or meetings per month

Locations: Various CONUS and OCONUS locations, primarily CONUS

Anticipated Start: Fall 2026

Essential Job Functions:

Provide professional Spanish simultaneous interpretation during conferences, meetings, and other scheduled engagements.

Provide consecutive interpretation as required based on assignment needs.

Accurately interpret spoken communication between Spanish and English while preserving the original meaning, tone, intent, and context.

Effectively interpret specialized terminology and subject matter appropriate to the assignment.

Travel to and support assignments at various CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality throughout each assignment.

Adapt interpretation style and delivery to the subject matter, audience, setting, and operational environment.

Work effectively in fast-paced conference and meeting environments while maintaining interpretation accuracy and consistency.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Demonstrated professional experience providing Spanish-English simultaneous interpretation.

Professional experience providing consecutive interpretation.

Strong oral proficiency in both Spanish and English.

Ability to accurately interpret complex information while maintaining the meaning, tone, and intent of the speaker.

Ability and willingness to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.

Willingness and ability to successfully complete a simultaneous interpretation proficiency test.

Willingness to successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) screening/interview, as required.

Desired Skills:

Prior military experience and/or strong familiarity with military terminology, culture, operations, and environments.

Previous experience providing interpretation support within government, military, defense, intelligence, or professional conference environments.

Experience interpreting technical, operational, or mission-related terminology.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and professional judgment skills.
