Job description

GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mississauga or Toronto office. This is a part-time position working 24 hours a week.ย 

Working on the transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all. What you'll be challenged to do:

Successful candidates will perform inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and transportation related facilities.ย  Work includes steel and concrete design, AutoCAD, and use of structural programs such as CSI Bridge and SAP 2000. Performs structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures and ย develops structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:ย 

  • Staff specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles
  • Coordinates structural design with project requirements.
  • Lead structural design for small scale projects.
  • Design of concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams
  • Develop structural details
  • Review structural shop drawings
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with various disciplines.
  • Attend seminars to broaden exposure and remain current on the industry
  • Assists with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.
What you will bring to our firm:ย 
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
  • P.Eng license.ย 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Hands on experience with structural analysis and design software
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Be capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders, using man lifts.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO Structural Manual.ย 
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation:ย The salary range for this role is $108,000.00 - $145,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.ย Featured Benefits:ย
