Based in Sudbury, ON, the Civil Engineering Technician will report to the Project Manager, Engineering and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on the on-site review & documentation of Land Development and Linear Infrastructure projects. You will be part of a team that provides solutions in a diverse range of engineering, including Municipal, Transportation, Environmental, Drainage and Stormwater Management. This is an existing vacancy within the organization. The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $73,000 annually.
What You’ll Do:
As part of the TULLOCH Engineering team, you will:
 
  • Perform on-site construction inspections of Civil Engineering designs to ensure general conformity with engineered drawings and specifications
  • Provide Contract Administration support to the Project Manager for various Civil Engineering projects including: chairing progress meetings, preparing meeting minutes, reviewing shop drawing submittals, and preparing change management documentation
  • Maintain diligent records of on-site activities for each unique project, including accurate field reports, photo inventories, and any documents required for Engineering Certification
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and Engineering cost estimates
  • Assist with project tendering
  • Communicate subject matter effectively to the Constructor
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to prepare detailed Engineering drawings, as required
  • Apply AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare: Lot Grading Plans, Site Servicing Plans, Site Grading & Drainage Plans, Erosion & Sediment Control Plans, Road Plan & Profile Drawings, Cut & Fill Plans, etc., as required

What You Should Bring:
The ideal candidate will hold a degree or diploma from a Civil Engineering Technology or Technician program. Additionally, you should bring:
 
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Civil Engineering Technician role
  • OACETT C.E.T or C. Tech. designation is considered an asset
  • Ability to use surveying equipment, including but not limited to: site level, rotary laser, GPS rover, and Total Station
  • Proficiency in use of the Portable Nuclear Gauge for compaction testing and willingness to complete associated training
  • Knowledge in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with the Construction Act
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence
