UW Medical Center-Northwest - Long Term Civil Commitment Unit is hiring Part Time and Per Diem Psychiatric Registered Nurses.


WORK SCHEDULE

  • Multiple positions available.

  • We are currently hiring RNs can work 2x12s on the variable shift (a mix of day shifts and night shifts), or per diem on days (7:00am-7:30pm)

  • All RNs must be available to work rotating weekend shifts

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The Long Term Civil Commitment Unit supports involuntary psychiatric admits who require extended periods of care, including those requiring multi-month hospital stays (90 to 180 days)

  • Our services include highly structured psychiatric care, services for patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and programs that promote independent functioning and transition to the community

  • Our unit has a residential feel, with ample natural light and outdoor patient areas to promote serenity, comfort, and healing

  • Our nurses play a key role providing person-centered care in a positive clinical environment


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Triage incoming patients

  • Provide behavioral health education to psychiatric patients and their families

  • Ensure patient safety protocols are followed, including restraint protocols

  • Monitor and administer oral and injectable medications

  • Coordinate patient care with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychiatrists, and occupational therapists

  • Provide personalized care to psychiatric patients with compassion, dignity, and respect


REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 year of behavioral health RN work experience

  • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State

  • Active BLS
