Job description

Job Summary:

Ag Express Electronics is seeking a skilled, part-time Electronics Repair Technician I at our Des Moines, Iowa location. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment to reduce equipment downtime and ensure reliable performance. This role combines technical expertise, effective communication, and strong documentation practices to deliver high-quality service to deliver customer satisfaction. A commitment to continuous improvement is essential to success in this role. In this role, every repair and solution provided reinforces uptime and reflects our commitment to customer success.

This position is located at our Des Moines, Iowa location.

Key Responsibilities:

Repair and Maintenance:

  • Repair electronics and electro-mechanical equipment such as servos, flow meters, grain analysis equipment, implement monitoring and control equipment, and vehicle instrumentation.
  • Follow standard procedures to replace defective components, wiring, and adjust mechanical parts using hand tools and a soldering iron.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure the long-term functionality of equipment.
  • Manage workload to ensure timely repairs and adherence to deadlines.

Diagnostics and Testing:

  • Evaluate faulty electronic units and systems using diagnostic software and tools to identify root causes of failures efficiently.
  • Test the functional operation of electronic components using oscilloscopes, signal generators, amp meters, and voltmeters.
  • Set up, calibrate, and adjust equipment to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Interpret electrical schematics to aid in diagnosing the equipment and the repairs required.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by effectively identifying issues and implementing practical solutions to overcome challenges in a timely manner.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of all repairs, calibrations, and tests performed using computer systems to ensure accuracy and up-to-date documentation.
  • Track and report on the status of repair jobs and parts used.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency of repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and company standards in all record-keeping practices.

Customer Support:

  • Collaborate with customers to provide support for the equipment they need serviced to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with customers to understand their needs, manage inquiries, and provide timely solutions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in repair processes and techniques to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, ammeters, and voltmeters is preferred.
  • Familiarity with using hand tools and soldering irons for component replacement and adjustments.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations related to measurements.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, Associateโ€™s degree in electronics technology or progress towards degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Familiarity in repairing and maintaining electronics and electro-mechanical equipment, with exposure to basic functions and troubleshooting techniques used in diagnostic and service environments.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment including printers, scanners, and computer applications such as MS 365.
