Construction Staff Engineer - Join Our Growing Team at Lobar, Inc.

Location: Dillsburg, PA
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Flexible hours available)

At Lobar, Inc., we are proud to be a leading provider of comprehensive construction services, with a dynamic team of over 250 professionals in every discipline of the construction industry. We know that our success depends on the well-being and growth of our employees, and we are looking to add a Construction Staff Engineer to our talented team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in engineering to join a collaborative, innovative, and supportive work environment. Whether you are looking for a full-time role or prefer a part-time schedule, we are open to discussing options that work for you!

What You'll Do:

As a Staff Engineer at Lobar, Inc., you will play a key role in ensuring the success of our construction projects by overseeing the quality and accuracy of shop drawings and coordinating with various teams to ensure everything is in alignment. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Field Teams, and Subcontractors to manage and review submissions, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and preparing shop drawing submissions from various subcontractors (concrete, rebar, precast, structural steel, etc.) for compliance with contract documents.
  • Conducting a "constructability" review to ensure designs are feasible and practical for field implementation.
  • Identifying and resolving inconsistencies in contract documents or shop drawings by collaborating with the project management team and subcontractors.
  • Leading coordination efforts with other trades (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to ensure all work aligns.
  • Providing expert insights on means and methods designs, including underpinning and demolition-related shoring (preferred experience).

Skills & Experience:

We're looking for a Staff Engineer who is highly organized, collaborative, and eager to take ownership of projects while working independently. You should have a keen eye for detail and a strong ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or construction experience
  • Proficiency with BlueBeam; experience with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Strong technology skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills with solid math comprehension
  • A resourceful, independent work ethic with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass background checks/drug screening

Note: A PE license is not required for this position, as the role is not design-focused.
