Job description

Responsibilities

The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Information Management Specialist is responsible for clerical duties, within the HIM Department, related to: records, record assembly and analysis, transcription processing, filing, and chart tracking. Responsible for processing and monitoring release of health information while ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements and accreditation recommendations regarding the release of PHI.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a Health Information Technology program preferred; high school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience: At least two (2) years experience in a health information management department (medical records) in a hospital setting, or comparable duties, time and experience elsewhere.

Additional Requirements:

  • Preferred licensed either RHIT, CPC or CCS with coding experience
  • Licensed as Registered Health Information Technician, preferred. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
