Job description


About This Role

We are a faith-based preschool serving children from 18 months to age 5, seeking a part-time assistant teacher to engage and interact with children in our 3- and 4-year-old classes. As a team member, you will be responsible for implementing curricula activities and promoting a positive learning environment. IMMEDIATE OPENING - PART TIME

This part-time position involves working morning hours from 8:30 to 1:00 with some flexibility preferred. If you're passionate about early childhood education and have a minimum of 6 months of experience in a licensed child care program, we'd love to hear from you.


What You'll Do
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment, ensuring all materials are readily available for children.
  • Establish open communication with parents through regular updates and informal discussions, promoting a collaborative approach to child care.
  • Lead by example, modeling self-help and good hygiene practices to encourage children to develop these essential skills.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the needs of 3- and 4-year-old children.
  • Support a smooth transition from home to the child care center, ensuring children feel welcome and secure.
  • Comply with all center policies and state regulations, upholding the highest standards of early childhood education.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan, focusing on continuous quality improvement and staying updated on best practices in early childhood education.

Requirements
  • Must pass health screening and clear a full background check.
  • Must be able and willing to take frequent walks, engage in outdoor activities, use hands, fingers, and handle objects, talk clearly, and hear voices at different levels.
  • ECD 101 certificate is required.
  • Ability to work well with others is essential.
  • Understand and abide by Spartanburg Quality Counts standards.
  • Must have an understanding of child development.
  • Must be willing and able to kneel, bend, squat in the classroom and playground environment.
  • Vision ability includes seeing up close and distances, having peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • High energy is necessary to keep up with the demands of this role.

Nice To Haves
  • Holding Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification demonstrates a strong commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a licensed child care center is highly desirable, as is additional Early Care and Education course work or degrees that enhance your skills and knowledge.
