Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for oversight, development and maintenance of York College Drupal-based environment. This role is critical to ensuring our site remains secure, up-to-date, and functions optimally while working within our Pantheon hosting environment.
OUTCOMES:
A reliable and robust website service and an effective content management process. A professional public web presence that is functional, secure, and accessible for all visitors and is effective in attracting new students.
Essential Functions
Pantheon Host and Drupal Core Management (30% - appx. 8 hours per week)
  • Perform regular Drupal core and module updates, with particular attention to security patches
  • Perform, review, and evaluate visual regression testing of site and Drupal core updates
  • Manage any upcoming major Drupal version upgrades (Drupal 10 reaches end-of-life December 2026)
  • Configure and optimize Pantheon tools and integrations such as, but not limited to, Redis and New Relic
Security Management (25% - appx. 6 hours per week)
  • Research detected scripts, cookies, iframes in Osano platform
  • Publish cookie banner configurations to ensure compliance with regulation, law, and security
  • Implement and maintain security headers (CSPs) and other security best practices
Drupal CMS Technical Support (15% - appx. 4 hours per week)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the Drupal environment
  • Frontend administration: configurations, file system management, URL redirects
  • Handle formatting issues, broken links, and other miscellaneous corrections within Drupal content
Repository & Version Control (15% - appx. 4 hours per week)
  • Manage code repository and version control workflows
  • Coordinate repository migration from current vendor upstream to internal ownership
  • Maintain documentation of site architecture, customizations, and deployment processes
Front-End Development & Theming (15% - appx. 4 hours per week)
  • Maintain and update Drupal themes using Twig templating
  • Implement responsive design changes and ensure cross-browser compatibility
  • Work with Tailwind CSS framework for styling and layout adjustments
  • Troubleshoot front-end issues and optimize user interface components
  • Develop custom JavaScript solutions for site
Performance & Optimization (5% - appx. 1-2 hours per week)
  • Monitor site performance and implement caching strategies
  • Manage CDN and performance optimization tools within Pantheon
  • Configure and troubleshoot third-party integrations (chat tools, forms, analytics)

Experience and Education Required
  • 3 years of hands-on Drupal or similar development experience (Drupal 9/10/11 preferred)
  • 3 years' experience with Git version control and deployment workflows
  • 3 years' experience with performance optimization and caching strategies
  • Previous experience in higher education or similar institutional environments, preferred
  • Experience migrating Drupal sites between major versions, preferred
  • Background in troubleshooting third-party integrations and APIs, preferred

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with Pantheon or similar managed hosting platforms
  • Understanding of web security best practices and implementation
