Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Operations Team Member (Part-Time)
Position Location: Glass City Center
Departments: Operations Department
Summary:
Reports to the Glass City Center Operations Team Leader and/or Operations Manager. This position performs a variety of event related setups, service(s) and strike tasks. Some duties will include some facility housekeeping and cleaning tasks as required and directed. This position will also assist and help with projects throughout the building, and in the winter months assist with snow removal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work of this class involves event set up and tear down, under moderate supervision, including all event related equipment.
  • This position performs and delivers all aspects of show and event service at the highest level to all clients including waste collection and removal, assists with maintaining and cleaning various areas as directed, assist clients with loading and unloading show and exhibit material. Assist in resolving client questions and concerns.
  • Assists in the moving/setup/tear down of tables, chairs, staging equipment, risers, telescopic seating units, dance floors, outside tent, airwalls, etc.
  • Responsible for the cleaning, upkeep and minor maintenance of the facility and related support areas. Reports all major maintenance items and safety concerns to management.
  • Performs cleaning and housekeeping projects throughout the facility, i.e. carpet extraction, floor stripping and sealing, waste removal, window cleaning and other housekeeping as needed.
  • Responsible for the cleaning, minor maintenance and proper storage of all event equipment, supplies, furniture, and motorized equipment.
  • Operates motorized equipment in the performance of assigned duties i.e.: forklifts; floor scrubber, snow removal equipment. etc.
  • Assist with snow removal and other outdoor grounds maintenance projects as directed.
  • Works closely with clients and the public.
  • Represents the facility while communicating building policies with clients regarding set-up, move in/out, and over all facility policies.
  • This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties performed by this classification, but rather a representation of general duties. This classification performs other event related duties as needed, directed or required.

All Operations Team Members are expected to demonstrate reliability, professionalism, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for every client, event, and guest at Glass City Center.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or the ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience:
One year of experience in performing a variety of event service-related work. A good knowledge of cleaning related techniques and skills used in evert services and housekeeping. Candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills:
Must have ability to verbally communicate with the public, clients and management. Should also possess written communication skills and some computer skills.
Reasoning Ability:
Must have the ability to work from CAD drawings, other types of working drawings and event checklists. Team Member should also be able to read blueprints.
Physical Demands:
Team Member should be able to lift 75lbs. Operate the Genie lift up to heights of 36 feet, be able to work from step ladders and extension ladders as well as scaffolding.
Work Environment:
The work of this class involves morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, overnight availability as needed, and holiday work with short turn around deadlines. This position requires mandatory overtime as needed. Team Member may be asked to work outdoors as well as indoors at the Glass City Center property. Must be well groomed and wear full uniform in accordance with Glass City Center policy and procedure manual.
