Their duties may include assisting passengers in and out of vehicles, securing wheelchairs, and adhering to accessibility and safety regulations. Part time disability drivers often work for transportation companies, non-profits, or health care providers, and are trained to be patient, attentive, and knowledgeable about disability accommodations.

Part-time disability drivers often encounter challenges such as managing tight schedules, assisting passengers with diverse mobility needs, and navigating varying traffic or weather conditions. Building strong communication skills helps drivers understand each passenger's unique requirements, while familiarity with accessible vehicle equipment ensures safe boarding and travel.
