The Director of Athletic Communications amp; Operations plays a pivotal role in advancing the visibility, engagement, and overall student experience of Beacon College Athletics amp; Recreation. Beacon College is in its third year of intercollegiate athletics and sponsors 6 programs. We also support club/intramural programs in golf, tennis and bowling. This position is ideal for a highly organized, creative, and tech-savvy professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage a broad portfolio of communications, digital media, and operations responsibilities.

This role is instrumental in shaping how Beacon Athletics amp; Recreation is experienced on campus and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Athletic Communications, Media Relations amp; Content Creation
  • Lead all aspects of athletic communications and media relations for Beacon College Athletics
  • Coordinate media days, including scheduling teams and organizing photography and content capture
  • Promote games, student-athletes, team achievements, and special events across campus, conference partners, and external media
  • Produce high-quality written content, including game recaps, marketing materials, feature stories, press releases, and award nominations
  • Create and manage engaging multimedia content for social media, including graphics, photography coordination, video, and storytelling features
  • Oversee and produce live stream broadcasts for home athletic events, including setup, graphics, troubleshooting, and breakdown
  • Manage nominations for conference, national, and external awards
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive statistical records and historical archives
  • Travel as needed for away contests amp; postseason event coverage

Website Management, Statistical Reporting amp; Historical Records
  • Oversee the athletics website, including content strategy, updates, and overall user experience
  • Maintain team pages, including rosters, schedules, biographies, and news content
  • Ensure timely posting of scores, statistics, and multimedia content following events
  • Manage live stats and livestream integrations and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Serve as the official statistician for home contests
  • Submit required reports and statistics to conference and governing bodies in a timely manner
  • Maintain and organize historical records, statistics, and archival materials
  • Support recognition initiatives such as conference amp; institutional honors

Operations amp; Event Management
  • Plan and execute all aspects of game day operations for Beacon College Athletics amp; Recreation
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student workers and event staff
  • Oversee game day roles including public address, scoreboard operations, statistics crews, and livestream personnel
  • Coordinate event staffing processes in collaboration with campus departments
  • Prepare competition venues, including technology setup for livestreaming, statistics, and communications systems
  • Ensure accurate statistical input and smooth coordination during contests
  • Manage post-event reporting and documentation requirements
  • Maintain and oversee athletics media and game day equipment

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in athletic communications, sports information, media relations, or a related field (job specific student and graduate assistantships may be used)
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva (or similar tools), and social media platforms
  • Experience with athletics websites and content management systems (PrestoSports or similar)
  • Knowledge of live streaming platforms and statistical software
  • Strong technical aptitude with multimedia tools, data management, and event technology
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays
