Job description

Part-Time Property Management Bookkeeper – A/R, A/P & Reconciliations

We’re looking for an experienced Part-Time Property Management Bookkeeper to take ownership of the financial bookkeeping for our growing property management operation. You’ll manage A/R and A/P, owner accounting and distributions, bank reconciliations, and help clean up and maintain accurate records in DoorLoop.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving accounting problems, digging into discrepancies, and figuring out why the numbers don’t match—not just reporting the issue. You’ll have the autonomy to improve processes, organize the books, and help ensure every dollar coming in and going out is properly accounted for.

Compensation:

$25 - $30 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, including tenant payments, vendor invoices, outstanding balances, and payment processing.

  • Reconcile property management bank accounts to DoorLoop and ensure accounting records match actual bank balances.

  • Maintain accurate tenant, property, vendor, and owner ledgers, including owner statements and distributions.

  • Investigate and resolve missing, duplicate, incorrect, or misapplied transactions and other accounting discrepancies.

  • Review and clean up existing DoorLoop accounting records and correct historical bookkeeping issues.

  • Verify expenses, deposits, payments, and transfers are properly assigned to the correct property, tenant, vendor, or owner.

  • Maintain accurate supporting documentation and help establish consistent bookkeeping and reconciliation processes going forward, including a separate check register.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in property management preferred.

  • Strong experience with bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

  • Proven ability to investigate discrepancies and trace accounting issues through resolution.

  • Strong attention to detail with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and take ownership of financial records.

  • Property management or real estate accounting experience is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with DoorLoop, AppFolio, Buildium, Rent Manager, QuickBooks, or similar software is a major plus.
