Part Time Devops information

What is a part time DevOps?

Part time DevOps professionals are IT specialists who work reduced or flexible hours, focusing on automating and streamlining software development and operational processes. They collaborate with development and IT teams to build, test, and deploy applications efficiently, often using tools like Jenkins, Docker, and AWS. Part time DevOps roles are ideal for organizations needing DevOps expertise on a limited basis, or for professionals seeking flexible work arrangements while maintaining involvement in continuous integration and delivery workflows.

How does working part-time as a DevOps professional impact collaboration with full-time team members?

As a part-time DevOps professional, you may need to coordinate closely with full-time team members to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent progress on projects. Clear communication and thorough documentation are essential to keep everyone aligned, especially when team members work different schedules. Many organizations use collaborative tools like Slack, Jira, or Confluence to facilitate updates and knowledge sharing. While you might face challenges in staying fully up to speed with rapidly changing environments, proactive engagement during meetings and regular syncs can help bridge any gaps.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time DevOps engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time DevOps Engineer, you need a solid background in system administration, scripting (such as Bash or Python), and CI/CD concepts, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is often required, along with relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a collaborative mindset help you work efficiently in cross-functional teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining robust, scalable infrastructure and ensuring seamless software delivery, even on a part-time schedule.

Job description

Description

***We will be hiring either 2 part time or 1 full time person, depending on the applicants.

Philbrook Museum of Art is a vibrant cultural institution in Tulsa, Oklahoma that typically welcomes over 120,000 visitors each year. Oklahoma is home to 39 Native nations-the most of any in the United States-representing various cultural regions including the Eastern Woodlands and Plains, among others. Tulsa has one of the highest percentages of Native populations in the country and is at a confluence of three tribes: Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), and Osage.

A 1920s Italianate Villa nestled in 25 acres of designed gardens, Philbrook features a dynamic and ambitious program of rotating exhibitions and galleries with selections from an actively growing collection of approximately 16,000 objects, about 5,000 of which are from Native North American artists. With artworks from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe dating from 3,000 BCE to today, Philbrook is Oklahoma's most comprehensive art museum and offers visitors a glimpse into a broad range of cultures, time periods, and perspectives. The diverse collection supports a vision of Philbrook as central to the lives of our community as a place for learning, inspiration, and fun. Through bold action and strategic investment, we create a space for new ideas, diverse perspectives, and social connection.
