Position Summary
This position exists to provide assistance and support for the IT Labs and classrooms. The IT Lab Specialist will provide Sinclair students and faculty support services that will enhance their learning experiences. This position is responsible for ensuring students have optimal access to technology and support resources that will allow them to best meet their college-wide objectives.
This position pays an hourly rate of $20.43 per hour at a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Assist students and faculty in the utilization of resources, facilities and services required for satisfactory completion of learning objectives
  • Assist in the daily operations of the IT Labs to ensure we are providing optimal services and resources to Sinclair student and faculty users
  • Provide guidance, direction, and supervision of student employees for the lab facilities and activities
  • Work with the Lab Coordinator to maintain technical hardware and software resources
  • Work with the Lab Coordinator to provide technical support for visitors, students, faculty and staff
  • Maintain proficiency related to applications and hardware to provide technical assistance in the installation, operation, and maintenance of instructional computing software and hardware required to support technology based learning activities
  • Identify and report service requests to ensure optimal services are provided
  • Monitor problems reported, follow-up, and communicate status to Coordinator
  • Assist in the identification of needs for new services or resources based on in depth knowledge of activities, utilization, and student and faculty user requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required, associate's degree in content area preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a computer lab or customer service environment required
  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of information technology hardware and applications software, as well as the ability to assist all levels of users in using technology resources required
  • Excellent coaching, oral/written skills, and interpersonal skills required
  • Achievement oriented and adaptive to change required
  • Advanced level expertise with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) required
  • Advanced level knowledge of Internet use and research required
  • Commitment to customer service, attention to detail, responsibility and strong analytical/problem solving skills required
  • Proficiency with microcomputer hardware and software required
