Job description

Time Period: June 2026 – August 2026
Schedule: Full-time hours preferred, part-time may be considered
Location: Denver, CO
Description: The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is the authoritative resource on safe water, providing knowledge, information and advocacy to improve the quality and supply of water in North America and beyond. AWWA advances public health, safety and welfare by uniting efforts of the full spectrum of the water community.
The Partnership for Safe Water and Partnership for Clean Water (Partnership Programs) are utility optimization programs managed by AWWA and six alliance member organizations (EPA, AMWA, ASDWA, NAWC, The Water Research Foundation, and WateReuse). The Partnership Programs provide utilities with a structured self-assessment process to examine their operations, identify areas for improvement, and work toward optimized performance.
Nearly 500 utilities across North America have voluntarily chosen to join the Partnership Programs and hold themselves to higher standards than current regulations in the water industry. Utilities in the Partnership Programs submit baseline data on several water quality and system integrity parameters when they join the program, and then resubmit this data every year to track their improvement and demonstrate their commitment to high performance.
To embody the culture of continuous improvement and excellence that the Partnership Programs expect of our members, Partnership is working to improve the review process for annual data submissions; improve the tools and systems used to store, track, and display data; and compile statistics to better understand members’ performance in the program and areas for improvement. To support these efforts, the Partnership Programs are seeking a person who has expertise in data review and processing, data interpretation, and tool and system development. This person should be familiar with Microsoft Excel, be able to quickly learn and use new portals and data storage systems, and carry out basic statistics and data analysis.
The selected candidate will primarily support annual data review and process improvement, but will also support the development of new data collection tools and templates and resources, and will provide support to Partnership member utilities who have data-related issues.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in Engineering, Data Science, or another discipline with a focus on data analysis. Undergraduate students that have completed at least their junior year will also be considered.
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Prior experience with databases, dashboards, and data visualization applications preferred.
  • Prior water industry experience or interest in a water industry career preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required; prior customer- or client-facing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities with shifting time frames, and meet deadlines; high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow-through.
Wage/Salary Information: $21 - $24 per hour, dependent upon qualifications
Deadline to Apply: June 15, 2026
