We organize our residents and supporters to advocate for local and state policies, like affordable housing, to help people still on the streets or at risk of homelessness. Together, we're building a new future for our neighborhoods and the city we love.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The Front Desk Clerk is the gatekeeper to the Residences - enforcing HomeRise policies to ensure safe, decent housing for our residents. Front Desk Clerks monitor daily building activities, provide 24-hour security, and respond to building and resident emergencies. As the first point of contact for visitors to our properties, Front Desk Clerks are required to exhibit professional, courteous and respectful conduct to residents and building guests, enforcing property rules while creating a welcoming environment. The position is supervised by an Assistant Site Manager or Site Manager.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all rules and procedures outlined in the Housing Operations manual, Employee Handbook and HomeRise House Rules.ย 
  • Follow new and revised procedures as developed and distributed.ย 
  • Monitor daily common area activities of building residents and guests.ย 
  • Maintain building security.ย 
  • Screen all visitors to the building.ย 
  • Maintain complete and accurate building logs, records, journals-Visitor Log, Overnight Log, Daily Log, etc.ย 
  • Respond to building emergencies in compliance with the Property Management manual.ย 
  • Treat residents with respect and dignity-showing courteous behavior and patience.ย 
  • Assist residents in completing work orders, incident reports and complaints.ย 
  • Assist the Building Manager with administrative tasks as directed.ย 
  • Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry and lobby.ย 
  • Accurately complete incident reports and complaints.
  • Attend All-Staff meetings and scheduled Front Desk Clerk meetings unless prohibited by work schedule.ย 
  • 45-minute meal period will be an "on duty" paid meal period.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to learn and follow directions.
  • Good humored, courteous and professional; even under pressure.ย 
  • Organized, with attention to detail.ย 
  • Ability to remain calm and responsible during emergencies.ย 
  • An understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people.ย 
  • Ability to be a part of a team.ย 
  • Commitment to helping formerly homeless people to regain and maintain their independence.ย 
  • Applicants are encouraged to learn basic computer word processing and databases, etc.ย 
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and resolve conflict. Applicants with de-escalation and conflict resolution training recognized.ย 
  • An understanding of and experience working with issues of homelessness and recovery issues.ย 
  • Bilingual/Spanish a strong plus.ย
