POSITION TITLE: TITLE I PARAPROFESSIONAL- PART TIME Monday, Wednesday & Thursday

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide competent support and assistance to the classroom teacher(s) in the full implementation of the instructional programs of the school. To perform such tasks as may be assigned by the teacher in support of the instructional program and activities of the class.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
Meets and instructs assigned groups and individuals in the locations and at the times designated by the teacher.
Presents materials required in the teaching assignment within the content limitations of the system curriculum guides and under the direction of the teacher. Helps the teacher implement programs of study that, as much as possible meet the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students. Assist in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepares for groups and /or individuals assigned, and shows evidence of such preparation. Provides the teacher input for assessing the accomplishments of students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and /or rules governing student life and conduct. Helps the teacher enforce reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Provides feedback to learners about their academic progress and behavior. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Reproduces, organize, distributes, and collects instructional materials for implementation of instructional programs. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive of the teacher, the principal, or other appropriate administration or supervisor.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING:
Qualify for a Paraprofessional Certificate by either holding an Associate Degree or higher or 90 college quarter hours or 60 semester hours or pass the assessment test for paraprofessionals (GACE). We will need an official transcript from your college if you have enough college credits for this job. If you are taking the GACE, we need a copy of your high school diploma to submit to PSC to get your certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
The ability to organize, direct, and control small and large groups of children in a variety of activities and settings. Proficiency required in oral and written communication. The ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in working with and directing the activities of children, preferably in education.
