The Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Full Time 1.0 FTE Curriculum and EL Coordinator for the 2026-2027school year
APS is a world-class public school system located in Austin, MN. We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds.
Job Description:
The EL and Curriculum Coordinator provides leadership in English Learner (EL) programming across the district and K-12 curriculum development and implementation as needed. This position provides strategic leadership for the district's EL program, including instructional alignment, program design, assessment systems, staffing, and family communication. Through collaboration with teachers, Instructional Coaches, school leaders, and district administrators, the coordinator advances equitable student outcomes, strengthens instructional practice, and supports the success of multilingual learners and emerging readers across the system.
Statement of duty/responsibility: EL Program Coordination
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
  • Lead the development, refinement, and implementation of the district's LIEP (Language Instruction Educational Program)aligned to the district's instructional model.
  • Ensure EL services and instructional supports integrate seamlessly into the general education classroom.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the EL Leadership Team, including establishing priorities, guiding instructional alignment, and supporting professional development.
  • Coordinate EL staffing patterns districtwide, ensuring equitable allocation of support based on student needs and enrollment.
  • Oversee EL assessment systems, including screening, annual ACCESS assessments, progress monitoring, and data management.
  • Monitor EL curriculum materials; guide adoption, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to ensure compliance with state and federal EL program requirements.
  • Support family communication regarding EL programming, student progress, identification, and reclassification.
  • Provide training for teachers on sheltered instruction strategies, language acquisition, scaffolding, and co-teaching models.

Statement of duty/responsibility: K-12 curriculum development and implementation
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
  • Coordinate the planning, designing, and development of course content and assessments aligned to MN State Standards.
  • Collaborate with other curriculum specialists, instructional coaches, teachers, staff, and administration to seek out and design innovative instructional materials to support instruction.
  • Review course and content data making recommendations regarding revisions.
  • Research new and innovative curriculum practices; stay current with curricular trends and standards changes.
  • Work directly with grade level and department chairs in the design and vetting of course content, including curriculum guides, pacing guides, and instructional materials.
  • Facilitate meetings and professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, staff, and parents in the use of curriculum resources

Qualifications:
Type of degree: B.S. in Education, Educational Masters, K-12 Principal License (preferred)

Executive Director of Academics and Administrative Services
