ABOUT THE POSITION

Sky 360 is looking for a kitchen porter/prep cook to fill out their team on a full-time or part-time basis. If you are looking to gain some kitchen experience but have yet to work in a professional kitchen environment, this is the perfect place to start. WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Receive and sign for deliveries from suppliers at the loading dock and base of the tower.
    • Store food items correctly according to Alberta Food Safety Standards and kitchen best practices.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the loading dock area.
    • Transport food and other required items between the loading dock and restaurant based on the needs of the restaurant and direction from the chefs.
    • Ensure a clean and sanitary stock of dishes, utensils, glasses, pots/pans, and cooking equipment is consistently available for kitchen and food service.
    • Sort, stack, and load dirty dishware into dish racks in an organized manner to maximize machine capacity and reduce breakage.
    • Operate dishwashing equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
    • Unload, stack, and sort dishware, distributing and storing in designated storage areas.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with all departments affecting the kitchen.
    • Aid kitchen staff in food prep.
    • Ensure consistent and high-caliber food preparation.
    • Ensure the highest level of hygiene and food safety is adhered to according to the restaurant’s standards.
    • Ensure that the dishwashing area and equipment is always maintained at the highest level of cleanliness.
    • Consistently conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner.
    • Aid in maintaining department objectives and ensure they are met and exceeded.
    • Strive to advance your knowledge and help raise standards within department by bringing new concepts, ideas, and suggestions forth.
    • Perform other related ad-hoc duties as required.
    • Communicate in a friendly manner with all staff.

WHAT YOU HAVE

    • At least 1 year of prior experience is preferred but not required.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills required.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
    • Ability to fluently communicate in both written and verbal English.
    • Can lift and carry weight up to 75lbs.
    • WHMIS Certification

    • The ability to stand for extended periods of time
    • Must be over 18 as open scheduling availability is a requirement.
