Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Director of Operations
Position Type: Executive Leadership / Cโ€‘Suite
Position Overview
Sanctuary Recovery Centers is seeking a strategic, missionโ€‘driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial functions of the organization. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO serves as the organization's primary financial spokesperson and a trusted advisor to the CEO and Director of Operations.
The CFO will oversee financial planning, reporting, compliance, risk management, and longโ€‘term financial strategy while supporting Sanctuary's continued growth in behavioral health and recovery services. This role is critical in ensuring financial stability, regulatory compliance, and alignment between financial operations and Sanctuary's mission of providing highโ€‘quality, ethical, and sustainable care.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead the development of operating budgets, programโ€‘level budgets, forecasts, and longโ€‘term financial strategies aligned with Sanctuary's clinical and operational goals
  • Partner closely with the COO and program leadership on budgeting, costโ€‘benefit analysis, and forecasting related to census, staffing, and service expansion
  • Provide financial insight to support dataโ€‘driven decisionโ€‘making across clinical, operational, and administrative functions
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Oversee financial compliance related to healthcare and behavioral health operations, including payer contracts, audits, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors
Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including payer mix, reimbursement risk, operational risk, and market volatility
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to support compliance, audit readiness, and financial integrity
Strategic Leadership & Advisory
  • Serve as a strategic partner in evaluating growth initiatives, new programs, mergers, acquisitions, and expansion opportunities
  • Advise executive leadership and the Board on financial implications of business development initiatives
  • Contribute to longโ€‘term organizational strategy, sustainability planning, and responsible growth
Treasury & Investment Oversight
  • Oversee cash flow management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, and reserve strategy
  • Support funding strategies and capital planning to ensure the organization's longโ€‘term financial health
Leadership & Team Oversight
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting teams, including finance leadership, controllers, and accounting staff
  • Ensure financial operations effectively support Sanctuary's clinical, compliance, and operational objectives
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance function
Leadership Role
  • Member of Sanctuary Recovery Centers' Cโ€‘Suite and senior executive leadership team
  • Regular interaction with the Board of Directors and executive leadership
  • Plays a critical role in governance, compliance, and organizational stewardship
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance executive, preferably within healthcare or behavioral health
  • Strong background in financial strategy, reporting, compliance, and risk management
  • Experience supporting multiโ€‘program operations, growth initiatives, and complex regulatory environments
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership and boards in a missionโ€‘driven organization
