Job description

Make a difference every day by joining CCRES as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing through our partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit!

SUMMARY:

Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serves students birth through age 21 and provides instruction, consultation, assessment, and accommodations to ensure equitable access to instruction and school activities.

COMPENSATION OPTIONS:

  • Hourly 1099 independent contractor rate: $80/hour 
  • Salaried w2 employee, 10-month position: $83,000 with paid time off and benefits

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day
  • 194 days/year (10-month position)
  • Part-time contractor option available

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide hearing support to students referred by districts, preschool programs, and early intervention services.
  • Assess and teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Plan and/or adapt educational programming for meaningful access.
  • Support the use of hearing technology and accommodations.
  • Teach students about their hearing loss and its impact on learning.
  • Consult with school staff to implement accommodations and effective strategies.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid PA Teacher of the Deaf/Hearing Impaired Certification required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Dual certification in Deaf & Hard of Hearing and Special Education preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of auditory technology and instructional strategies.
  • Experience supporting students with a wide range of hearing levels.

  • PA Criminal Clearance
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance
  • PA FBI Clearances
  • Education Documentation - Official Transcripts
  • TB screening
