Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Performs and participates in administrative duties which assist a hospital unit to function optimally. Maintains an organized healthcare setting and allows medical and nursing staff to focus on patient care. Maintains a line of communication between the patients and clinical staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Proficient in use of the computer, with good typing skills.

Understands medical terminology and hospital department workflows.

Enters orders in the computer accurately.

Answers telephones professionally and promptly.

Assists with registration, billing, and insurance authorization activities as needed.

Schedules appointments, arranges transportation as needed.

Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Care and Documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.

Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network’s Mission, Vision and Shared Values.

Education & Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Moderate computer skill including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with people in close situations, using excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization ability.
  • Multitasking and time management is critical to performance of the role.
