Part Time Library Assistant
Salary: $15.16 per hour
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is looking for a PT Library Assistant. Students may work up to 20 hours per week. Their schedule can include nights and weekends when the Learning Commons Director and Technician are not scheduled. The primary objective of the library part-time position is to assist the Learning Commons Director and Library Technician to aid students, faculty, and staff in the use of library/resource center on campus and online resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Help students, instructors, and staff locate Library materials and use facilities.
  • Perform circulation of Library materials, maintain Library e-catalog and patrol data records.
  • Process and shelve materials using Dewey Decimal System and special collections systems (involves kneeling, reaching, and bending)
  • Conduct Inventory of all on campus Library materials.
  • Ensure that the library is well organized, attractive, and welcoming.
  • Assist in the use of Library computer lab technology including printers, copiers and scanners, software applications and basic troubleshooting of Library computer lab hardware.
  • Open and/or close the library following prescribed procedures.
  • Help scan chapters of textbooks for online usage.
  • Answer Reference and Research Questions in person, on phone, and online using google chat.
  • Help process new materials using e-catalog program, MARC records/OCLC program and Dewey Decimal System.
  • Help students with research and course assignments using Library database and online resources.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (which must be maintained throughout the term)
  • Ability to relate well to students, faculty, and administration
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of student
Working Conditions:
The work environment is a typical office environment which may include moderate noise, some evening or weekend hours, confined workspaces, fast work pace with unscheduled interruptions, the need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and extensive time sitting and working with computers.
