Summary
Under general supervision, tutors Ak-Chin Indian Community students in 9-12 grades in Mathematics, and English Language Arts in the After-School Tutoring Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience equivalent to two year fulltime tutoring, teaching, counseling or closely related work with high school students; OR a Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must successfully complete a background check.
Examples of Duties
  • Assists students in Grades 9-12 with homework in high school mathematics, reading composition, and English, in individual and small-group sessions.
  • Assists students to gain academic knowledge and skill related to Arizona Common Core Standards in English language arts and mathematics.
  • Assists students in using computers in the Computer Lab.
  • Assists students in Grades 9-12 with Computer Software.
  • Assists students in Grades 9-12 with school projects and assignments.
  • Assists students with research projects using internet and other forms of research tools.
  • Keeps daily attendance. Drives students to Tutoring Site and drives students home.
  • Attends Tutor Staff meetings.
  • Completes requirements as Ak-Chin Indian Community employee.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Other Requirements
  • Knowledge of basic educational subjects, including mathematics, reading composition, English and science.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, and employees in the Community.
  • Skill in assisting students with understanding/learning basic educational subjects, including reading, English, mathematics and science.
